5 Exercises For Pain Relief From Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Correcting the carpal tunnel can be expensive and painful.

There are various non-surgical Carpal Tunnel Syndrome treatments as well to ensure that the pain is kept at bay and you can continue with a regular life.

One of the treatments includes stem cell therapy that reduces inflammation caused by the pinched nerve.

Some exercises that you can do at home to help you deal with the pain are:

  • Shake ‘em up

Probably the simplest of all the exercises, this one will prove useful when you suddenly wake up with extreme pain or numbness. All you have to do is shake your hands like you’re trying to dry them after washing them.

  • Finger to Thumb

For this non-stressful exercise, you just have to touch the tip of your index finger to the tip of your thumb to make it look like an “O”. Repeat it a couple of times to relieve the pain as an alternative for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome treatments.

  • Pray

No no, not the pray to God kind of pray! Here, you join your palms together at your chest, right below your chin. Then you start moving your arms down towards your waist. Make sure that your hands stay close to your body. Once you feel the pressure building up in your forearms you can go back to the relaxed position.

You want to repeat this exercise 2 to 4 times depending on your pain and tolerance.

  • The Basic Wrist

For this, you need a surface on which you can rest your arms while letting your wrists hang on one end. Once you are done finding this surface, rest your hands in the said position. From the neutral position where your palms are facing the floor, move your wrist upwards so that your fingers point towards the ceiling. Hold your position for 5 seconds and then return to the neutral position. Start doing the opposite now, meaning, point your fingers towards the floor and hold for 5 seconds again. You could do this exercise as a Carpal Tunnel Syndrome treatment 5 to 10 times to relieve the pain.

  • Glide those Tendons

You want to do this exercise nice and slow. To start, bend your arm at the elbow, straighten your wrist and fingers, and relax your thumb. Now, you want to curl your fingers so that the tips of your fingers touch your palm. Next, you’re going to go back to the neutral position and follow it by making a fist with straight fingers. Your fingers should not bend at the knuckles. Then you’re simply going to form a normal fist and keep repeating the entire process until you feel better.
